Printing in Costpoint 7 - Part 1

Printing is something we often take for granted. Anytime we need a report, we just go into Costpoint, setup the parameters (or query a saved parameter set), and then print the report. This works great until you need to reprint that journal entry or invoice after it has been posted. This is when the frustration begins.

Does this sound familiar? You print a report to a PDF so it can be filed electronically, then you print a paper copy so it can be stored in a folder or binder. Finally, you email it so that is can be reviewed. In Costpoint 6 this takes a lot of time and effort. If you’re like most of us, you get busy and finish 1 or 2 steps and then forget to do the final ones, or even worse, you forget where you saved the PDF file!

New printing capabilities in Costpoint 7 make this all much simpler and more effective! You’ll find these new features located under the “Print Options” icon on the toolbar.

The Print Options dialogue offers a great deal of new and valuable capabilities for printing in Costpoint 7. This flexibility allows you to print the report to a network printer or to your local printer. You can also download a copy to your local computer, or save a copy in a special folder, such as in your document management system.

Emailing a report is now easier too, as is storing an archived copy that is easily and readily accessible whenever you need it! The options are so versatile that you can even do a combination of these options all in a single process. Stay tuned for my follow-up post later this week where we’ll take a closer look at each of these options.
